BLOCK³ - CHONGQING LIGHT ART FESTIVAL 2026 - LED Sculpture VS. ruestungsschmie.de - audiovisual LED
„We have killed the projector.“
For years, ruestungsschmie.de mastered the art of shadow and skin, using projection mapping to redefine urban facades. With BLOCK³, we leave the ephemeral beam behind. This is a tectonic shift from projection to physical, emissive matter.
The Concept: Urban Lasagna Rooted in the 8D-topography of Chongqing, BLOCK³ reflects the city’s „Urban Lasagna“—a vertical labyrinth where streets exist on rooftops and buildings emerge from cliffs. It is a dialogue between the stability of the „Fang“ (the Chinese concept of the square) and the flickering, cybernetic chaos of a futuristic megacity.
The Structure: Leporello Tectonics Unlike a flat screen, BLOCK³ is a standalone 3D-LED sculpture. Its zig-zagging Leporello structure breaks the perspective, creating an internal volume where the light is trapped within the folds. The composition lives inside the architecture, not just on its surface.
Innovation: Daylight Proven While the world waits for the sun to set, BLOCK³ thrives in the high-noon heat. Built with high-intensity 3D-LED panels, the sculpture is daylight proven—a raw, architectural pulse visible 24/7, redefining the relationship between digital art and urban reality.
